What could kill a show before it has even performed? An unknown show? Awkward subject matter? A bad title, even? These are certainly hurdles to overcome but despite the name, we can assure you that we are incredibly excited to announce Urinetown as Wellington College’s major production for 2023. Urinetown is a comedy musical that satirises the legal system, environmental degradation, capitalism, and social irresponsibility. The show focuses on Bobby Strong and his gang of rebels as they try to overthrow oppressive laws made by the Urine Good Company (UGC). To control water consumption, people have to pay to use the amenities.There are harsh laws ensuring that people pay, and if the laws are broken, the offender is sent to a place called "Urinetown", never to return.
