Unit 1 - Narrative - The Arc of the Story
Fourth graders will be writing Realistic Fictions! They will create and develop stories and characters that feel real. After drafting their stories, they will learn to revise, edit, and publish their work!
Unit 2 - Personal and Persuasive Essays
Fourth Graders will be writing Personal and Persuasive Essays! They will select a cause/problem that they are passionate about and write a five paragraph essay to persuade their readers.
Unit 3 - Informational Writing - Bringing History to Life
Fourth Graders will be writing about The American Revolutionary War. They will be writing about the events that led to the revolution, they'll be writing about our founding fathers, and they will also write about some of the battles that were fought during this time period.
Unit 5 - Poetry
Fourth graders will be creating their own style of poetry
They will select three poems to write from a Choice Board Menu
We will celebrate at a Poetry Cafe!
Unit 6 - Author's Study
Readers respond to an author's stories
Great readers become excellent writers! Fourth graders will extend or alter the stories they read.
