Ashley loves being a teacher and loves watching her students grow academically and emotionally during each school year. As a 3rd grade teacher, she is able to form relationships with each student to encourage and build their self-confidence. It is her mission to inspire and motivate each student to become the best version of themselves. Throughout the year, she provides and guides students to find opportunities to be kind and compassionate little humans, all while fostering a love of learning. It’s in these moments of growth and self-discovery that makes Ashley love being a teacher so much.
Working in Wayne has been such a wonderful experience. Ashley had the privilege of student teaching in Wayne at Ryerson Elementary, the place she still calls home. During the last 11 years, she has witnessed first hand how incredible it is to work not only in Wayne, but in Ryerson. The school is a warm and welcoming place for all students and staff. Ryerson strives to teach the whole child and motivates each one of them to be leaders. It is here where Ashley has been able to grow and develop her craft to help all her students succeed. Much like Ryerson, Wayne Township Public Schools have encouraged Ashley to be the best educator she can be.
Throughout her 18 year tenure at Wayne Public Schools, Cindy has worked with students on the Autistic Spectrum and with Multiply Disabled Students. She treats each moment as an opportunity to teach students in a way that makes sense to them. This may include an IEP (Individual Education Program) or a BP (Behavior Plan), that individualizes a student's goals for them to reach their potential.
Cindy has always worked to provide the best care and learning experience possible. Ethical, professional behavior mixed with compassion and understanding is the definition of Cindy as a paraprofessional. Her philosophy that a student may be different but is never less, has merit. And that every student deserves the utmost dignity, love and respect every day, in any way unconditionally. She is forever learning from her students and is amazed how they teach her that at the end of the day, the little things are all that matter!
Team work makes for dream work and Cindy has had the privilege to work alongside numerous gifted teachers, therapists, specialists, paraprofessionals, nurses, CST (Child Study Team) members, school counselors, custodial staff, playground staff and building administrators. Each one on the team brings a component that is pivotal for a student's educational success, whether it is academic or behavioral. This also includes the many individuals she has worked with during ESY (Extended School Year), that continues a students routine and repetition from their academic school year bringing it full circle. Cindy humbles herself each day and reminds herself that together, we can!
