For Ms. Merlucci, teaching choral or instrumental music is a service of love. It allows her to witness the joy filled success of reaching a musical goal through incremental steps. Exploring a piece of music on any level is exciting, challenging and engaging. It requires attention to technique, musical skills, analytical thinking and listening with an astute inner ear. What a gift to be able to work as a teacher with students who also enjoy experiencing and developing the beauty and art of making music.
Ms. Merlucci finds the vibrant, resourceful interconnectedness of many communities the most enjoyable aspect of teaching in Wayne. At her schools, she is grateful for the friendly and helpful yet professional atmosphere of students and staff as well as administrators who encourage and support her endeavors. Everyone shares stories, laughs, celebrates, grieves, reflects and care for one another as valued members. She is inspired by witnessing the work of others in the classroom, in the cafeteria, on the playground, in a hallway or anywhere on school grounds.
Throughout her career, Ms. Merlucci has reached out to colleagues from the elementary through High School level seeking their advice to troubleshoot a concern, always grateful for the expertise of their responses. Ms. Merlucci is thankful for the structure the opportunity working in Wayne has offered for her personal life’s journey and sincerely delighted to have encountered the amazing students who have accompanied her.
