“What we have loved, others will love, and we will teach them how; instruct them how the mind of man becomes a thousand times more beautiful than the earth on which he dwells...”--William Wordsworth. A Romantic conviction, no doubt. And one that I hold to closely. As an English teacher, I work to continue this chain, this passing on to the future the best that has been thought and expressed. That's what I love most.
Wayne Valley High School has been my teaching home since 2001. I enjoy most the students who pass through its halls and especially my fellow English teachers, who, along with me, daily strive to bring to life the worlds that await discovery in literature.
What I love most about being a School Counselor is assisting young people, adolescents, in the process of learning to be independent and caring adults. I see my job as a mentor to students, and often a bridge between students and teachers. I have two adult daughters and I always treat each student the way I would want my daughters treated. I enjoy working with parents and helping them navigate high school as well as supporting their son or daughter through the post-secondary process. Another aspect of my job, is that no two days are alike, and it is never boring. I consider it an honor and a privilege to work with students, parents and my faculty and staff colleagues.
I have worked in the Wayne School District for fourteen years all in the capacity as a School Counselor. Four of my years I spent working with Classified students. I have been given the opportunity to be exposed to a large number of student learners, and my hope, is that I have positively impacted all students in my care. I have enjoyed working with all my colleagues over the past fourteen years as well as different Administrative teams. I truly enjoy the opportunity to work with students and parents in an individual and special capacity.
