What I love most about being a kindergarten teacher is seeing the growth in my students from September to June. There is nothing more rewarding than watching my students' eyes light up when they master a skill that they have been working on and knowing you helped them to achieve that goal. I take pride in molding my students into lifelong learners who love coming to school to learn and have fun. Every day with my students is always an adventure and I look forward to witnessing the magic that happens in my classroom filled with laughter, love and learning.
Having worked in six different schools in Wayne, the one thing I have always found to be consistent is that the culture and climate of each building is conducive to establishing relationships. Every team I have ever been a part of has been supportive and collaborative. It is a great feeling when you can look forward to going to work each day knowing that your colleagues are also like your family. I have formed many lifelong friendships, as well as meeting my husband while teaching in Wayne. When everyone has the same goal of putting the students first, it makes it easy to work together and also have fun.
As a reading specialist, it is amazing to watch young children learn to read. It is very rewarding to see them grow as learners and get excited when they are able to read books independently. I enjoy collaborating with my colleagues at Lafayette and working closely as a team. The students and teachers make it fun to come to work each day.
In the twenty years I have worked in Wayne I have met so many wonderful educators. My colleagues throughout the district have taught me many things that have made me the educator I am today. The staff in Wayne is incredibly dedicated and energetic, which makes an enjoyable working environment. The staff at Lafayette has always been supportive, helpful, and caring. Lafayette is truly a family and I am thankful to be a part of this amazing community.
