I am excited to come to work every day because my students inspire me. We spend our day learning and growing in so many ways, especially socially and emotionally. I believe we teach the whole child and it is vital to incorporate more than only academics into our day. Once students know you care about them, it is much easier to reach and challenge them. Third grade is a wonderful time to watch students develop as readers, writers and thinkers. I enjoy seeing them learn how to stand up for themselves, struggle to solve a math problem, navigate friendships, and know when to ask for help and when to persevere on their own. Students learn that social issues we study about in class can impact their lives and that they can make a difference in our world. My personal goal is to make a difference in my students lives because I believed in them.
I love working at APT School because of the incredible group of caring teachers, paraprofessionals and all the other terrific staff members. The amount of support I have received here through the years is just amazing. The atmosphere at our school is one of cooperation rather than competition. Everyone rallies around when there is a problem to solve, celebrates each other’s successes, and shares in the joys and sorrows of our lives. I have never worked with a more extraordinary circle of friends.
I love the opportunity to work with kids of all ages and see their smiles as they are able to figure out the problems and questions that they were having problems with and asked for help. I started out in the pre-school classes and continued up in the grades. It is a great joy to run into the kids as they get older and see how they have grown.
It's a great opportunity to work in the same district that I went to as well as my husband and my three kids did. I just love being able to work with the great group of people that work for Wayne Township. Being in the school system for over 11 years, I have met so many wonderful people, not just teachers, but all the others that keep these great schools up and running.
