The New Jersey Department of Education recognizes the outstanding contributions of educators in a variety of ways. One way is the Governor’s Educator of the Year (GEOY) Program, which recognizes the hard work of outstanding teachers and educational services professionals.
The New Jersey Department of Education recognizes the outstanding contributions of educators in a variety of ways. One way is the Governor’s Educator of the Year (GEOY) Program, which recognizes the hard work of outstanding teachers and educational services professionals.
After school level nominations were received, each of the Wayne Township Public Schools convened a committee to select one teacher and one educational services professional under the program guidelines. In the coming months, each of the educators selected locally may move on for recognition at the county, and potentially as candidates for state educator of the year.

GATES 4th Graders Placed Third in Nation
GATES 4th Graders Placed Third in Nation
Wayne Township Elementary School’s GATES (Gifted and Talented Education) students achieved Highest Honors in the recent WordMasters Challenge™, an annual national vocabulary competition involving nearly 125,000 students. The fourth-grade team placed third in the nation, scoring an impressive 178 points out of a possible 200 in the first of three competitions.
Wayne Township Elementary School’s GATES (Gifted and Talented Education) students achieved Highest Honors in the recent WordMasters Challenge™, an annual national vocabulary competition involving nearly 125,000 students. Competing in the very difficult Gold Division of the WordMasters Challenge™, fourth-grader Vishnu Srikant earned a perfect score of 20. Vishnu is one of only 15 fourth graders in the nation to achieve a perfect score. Top scorers on the Wayne team included: Izyan Ahmad, Federico Aleman-Pardi, Nehal Dange, Andrew Proce, Anthony Quispe, Vishnu Srikant, Brandon Stone, Preston Wang, Gavin Wiltshire, and Emma Yan.

GWMS Yearbook Receives National Recognition
George Washington Middle School’s 2019 Surveyor Yearbook earned national honors as a “best-in-class” publication from Herff Jones yearbooks. The honor comes with an award and a feature in Portfolio, a collection of the best yearbooks from around the country.

This is the second year GWMS earned this honor, but this year they’ve received additional recognition, becoming a showcase yearbook and serving as an exemplar for other yearbook programs across the country.

Advisor Tara Cooper Weiss said, “Our 2019 Make the Connection theme allowed us to showcase all of the connections between us, reminding us that we really aren’t that far apart.” The school was commended for their strong student photography and for having incorporated strong verbal-visual connections.

Packanack Elementary School's 2nd Graders celebrated Presidents' Day with a very presidential concert. The students sang a song about all 45 Presidents in the order they held office. In between verses, students recited little know facts about each President. Can you name all 45 Presidents in order?
