February 1st marks the start of Black History Month, a federally recognized, nationwide celebration that calls on all Americans to reflect on the significant roles that African-Americans have played in shaping history. In the Wayne Township Public Schools, a number of activities and events are planned at all schools and at all grade levels.

In supporting our teachers at the elementary level, media specialists and school counselors worked together to create a virtual library of resources from which teachers can select appropriate titles to use with their classes throughout the month. This year's theme, "THE BLACK FAMILY: Representation, Identity, and Diversity" creates an opportunity to learn from the everyday experiences of the Black community and celebrate their contributions. Children will have an opportunity to focus on this year’s theme, and listen to Black voices from across the country and from different time periods to develop a deeper understanding and greater awareness of the beauty, resilience, and perseverance that characterize this community.

Registration will take place through each elementary school throughout the month of February. Only a parent or guardian may enroll the child.

Please go to the district website to FAMILY LINKS > REGISTRATION (or CLICK HERE) between February 1st and February 19, 2021, to complete the online registration, which is the first part of the registration process. Your school secretary will contact you to complete the next portion of the process once the online portion has been submitted and required documentation has been uploaded. Please have all required documentation ready prior to completing the online form.

Congratulations to Wayne Hills sophomore, Eunice Chi, who won several awards and honorable mentions for her poetry submissions at the 2021 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
Congratulations to Wayne Hills sophomore, Eunice Chi, who won several awards and honorable mentions for her poetry submissions at the 2021 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
Some of her work has advanced to the national level competition. Last year, Eunice won the Scholastic Art and Writing Silver Medal for her poem, On This Absence. Beginning Monday, February 1st and by APPOINTMENT ONLY, the Technology Department will be offering a Remote Help Desk located at Anthony Wayne Middle School at the Cafetorium entrance. Hours of operation are from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday when school is in session.
