Empowerment Club

Our empowerment club set up a variety of stations in the library during Mental Health Awareness month. During lunch, students were able to stop in and experience discussions, read information, or participate in wellness activities such as coloring, drawing, and bracelet making.

The Wayne Hills Empowerment Club is new at WH and aims to help empower and support individuals, especially students at Wayne Hills, while working to create a safe world for all. It hopes to provide individuals, especially those who feel marginalized, with a community where they can feel acknowledged and comfortable in school and discuss important issues. They hope to encourage and introduce individuals to different career paths, as well as bring awareness to and dismantle harmful stereotypes, thus empowering and supporting individuals and groups in the larger community.

Overall, the Wayne Hills Empowerment Club hopes to help create a positive, accepting community of students where all are welcome to share experiences and provide support. We are hoping to hold discussion groups about a variety of topics related to empowerment which includes, but is not limited to, racial/ethnic divides, gender equality, role models, pop culture, books, and television. Eventually, the group would also like to engage in activities for cancer awareness and organizing care packages for shelters, as well as host guest speakers from various career paths.
