SOL Computers (SCHOOL-ISSUED STUDENT CHROMEBOOKS)
What's Needed For SOL Testing:
Students MUST USE their SCHOOL-ISSUED CHROMEBOOKS for testing.
Student MUST have an active TestNav App on that school-issued Chromebook (it is installed already).
MONTHLY (EVERY MONTH) - CHECK to see if your TestNav App is working properly.

Staying on the App for any test for any extended time is not necessary, but can be done.

SOL Testing Requirements
Requirements:
All Virginia public school students must take and pass five (5) specific SOL tests as part of high school graduation requirements. High school SOL tests are NOT optional.
SOL Tests NEEDED for graduation (Take and PASS):
READING (ONLY ONE [1]) - typically taken when in English 11
WRITING* (PBA - portfolio of specific class-assigned writings from English 9 [persuasive], English 10 [analytical], and English 11 [argumentative])
*NOTE: WHS does NOT participate in the linked SOL Practice Writing test. Again, students create a portfolio of writings throughout high school. Each year's SOL writing assignment is extremely important.
MATH* (ONLY ONE [1]) - can be...
Algebra I or
Geometry or
Algebra II
*NOTE: All students must take a math SOL test at the high school level, even if one was already passed at the middle school level.
HISTORY (ONLY ONE [1]) - can be...
World Geography (PBA - portfolio collection of specific classwork)

Location:
SOL Tests must be taken in person, AT SCHOOL. The Virginia Department of Education does not offer any other options.
Computers:
Students MUST USE THEIR SCHOOL-ISSUED CHROMEBOOKS for SOL TESTING. Please see the details under the Drop-Down Menu "SOL Computers (School-Issued Student Chromebooks)".
SOL Practice:
Practice tests can be taken on the school-issued Chromebook as described under that specific Drop-Down Menu above, "SOL Computers (School-Issued Student Chromebooks)".
Practice tests can also be accessed on the Virginia Department of Education website (click the "SOL Practice" Button at top of this page).
Additionally, Math and Science practice tests can be accessed on the JLab website (click "JLab" Button at top of this page).
SOL TESTING DATES
All SOL testing starts at the beginning of the school day at 8:30am.

1st Semester Classes - Fall 2022
M, Dec. 5 - EOC Reading
T, Dec. 6 - EOC Math and History (History today for those with both)
W, Dec. 7 - EOC Science, Math Doubles from 12/6 (took History Yesterday)
TH, Dec. 8 - ER Reading, MU Reading, MU Math, MU History, MU Science
F, Dec. 9 - ER History, ER Sci, ER Math (from 12/6)
T, Dec. 13 - ER Math (from 12/7)
Makeup days will only be used if necessary. Tests should always be taken on the dates listed.

REMINDERS: SOL testing starts at 8:30am. Please be on time. Please have your fully charged School-Issued Chromebook and your charging cord.
AP Testing
AP Exams are optional, but if you are taking the class, why not take the AP Exam? It is very good college prep.

Reduced Price
Some information on reduced fees can be found on this link: 2023 AP Exam Fee Reduction. Our school is participating in Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) this year. After reaching this site, click on "Primary Criteria for Schools/Districts Participating in Community Eligibility". You may also want to look at "Alternative Criteria for All Schools/Districts".
Contact Mrs. Butler (information above) if you (student)/your child MIGHT qualify for a reduced AP Exam Fee (including Valley Scholars students). Please try to make this contact before the between late August and very early October.
After contact with Mrs. Butler, Valley Scholars students must reach out to their WHS Counselor and JMU contact person for support from that program.
ORDERING AP EXAMS and PAYMENT DUE DATE:

JOIN CODES
Students MUST enter their Join Codes into their College Board accounts so that their AP Exams are included in WHS's order.
Join Codes are provided by the student's teacher or the School Test Coordinator (Virtual Virginia, Homeschool, and Independent Students).
The College Board sets a Fall 2022 date for AP Exam Orders to be submitted. For this reason, students must pay for each intended AP Exam by our NOVEMBER 4, 2022 due date.
PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED from Friday, October 14 through Friday, November 4, 2022.
Payments will be made to WHS (CASH or CHECK) and given to our bookkeeper, Ms. Furze, who is housed in the administrators' (principals') office area. The option of paying with a credit card is not quite ready yet for this purpose. It MIGHT become available in time for AP Exam payments. Information on this will be updated if it becomes available in time.
LATE ORDERING FEES and CANCELATION FEES:
LATE FEE - $40 per AP Exam
This fee applies to EVERY AP Exam ordered between the end of the school day on November 15, 2022 and the end of the school day on March 15, 2023.
CANCELATION FEE - $40 per AP Exam
This fee applies to EVERY cancelled AP Exam after the order has been made at the end of the school day on November 15, 2022.

WorkKeys (a mandatory option for some)
What:
WorkKeys are substitute tests for some students who may need other options. We only offer WorkKeys in Reading and Writing. Students CANNOT CHOOSE WorkKeys. If necessary, WorkKeys will be assigned by the School Test Coordinator or a WHS administrator.
