Details to follow
The initiative of creating a school garden at Woodlands Academy was born after considering an unloved piece of land at the back of the school. The space used to be our adventure playground and allotment but over the time this has rotted away and is now not able to be used. Due to pressure on the budget we cannot improve this area without additional funding and volunteer support.
This project is one of the biggest in Bristol primary schools and we hope that with our garden we can create eco learning possibilities; bring the community together, grow produce and ultimately create an outdoor learning space that our children and their families can enjoy - a tranquil space they can feel safe in and learn pivotal lifelong skills. It is very important to us that paths are wheelchair friendly to ensure there are no restrictions on who can enjoy the garden. To bring this project to life, the Woodlands Garden Project will be working closely with several charitable partners: Darran Mclane, Big Lottery Fund, OVO Energy, University of the West of England, Stride Treglown, Artist Robert Martin and B&Q.
