The first annual Wausau East Career and Academic Planning Senior Seminar
(better known as CAPSS!)
was held on February, 28th, 2018.
CAPSS, which is part of East's Academic and Career Planning curriculum, gave our twelfth grade students the opportunity to engage, interact, and network with leading business professionals from throughout our Wausau community.
Students attended breakout sessions that highlighted a variety of important skills and techniques essential for getting and maintaining a job in today's workforce. These included: Communication and Conflict Management, Collaboration, Soft Skills Development, Interview Tips, and Resume, Cover Letter, and Digital Profile creation. Additionally, students listened to CAPSS Keynote Speaker Derek Heikkenen discuss educational and workforce trends in the Central Wisconsin area.
Feedback from the morning was overwhelmingly positive! Several students even walked away from their sessions with summer job interviews scheduled! One of our most important goals at Wausau East is to help students develop the skills necessary for success in the workforce, regardless of what paths they may take to get there. CAPSS, and other Academic and Career Planning activities, are designed to help our students enhance and maximize their career potential before they graduate from Lumberjack High!
