Badger Conference Honors Choir: Time to Collaborate, Not Compete

It's a crisp Monday in October and the sounds of hundreds of voices rises up to the rafters of Bethel Lutheran Church, situated just a block from the state capital. A select group of singers from Wauankee and other Badger Conference schools are gathered to share their passion for music and for singing. Led by highly respected conductors and clinicians, Lucinda Thayer (University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point) and Axel Theimer (St. John's University), these students rehearse one day only for the evening concert at 7:00 pm. Imagine the sounds of over 200 of the best high school singers from the Madison area, focused on the task of creating beautiful music.

This unique event takes place biennially (every other year) and is organized by conference vocal music teachers. These volunteers see the need for their advanced students to be challenged in new ways, connecting with other students that share their passions, working collaboratively rather than competitively, and bringing back the things that they learned to their ensembles. If you our your son/daughter are interested in this event, please consider completing a self-nomination form and returning it to the choir room by September 15. Selections will be made and announced the week of September 18. For more information, go to the Badger Conference Honors Choir Page.
