Welcome to Chemistry. I am Mrs. Akins, this will be my fifteenth year teaching at Watertown City School District. I am excited to get started this school year and can't wait to meet you! I am also the advisor for the Environmental Club and Co-advisor for Student Council. See me in Room 107 to participate!
Notebook (any style will do) this is for you to write down any notes for studying.
Folder or Binder to keep papers in you will need to bring your Chemistry Reference Tables with you to class everyday.
Chromebook will be used everyday for different activities and lab data collection. We use Vernier probes to collect and observe in lab.
Calculator - any will work as long as it can do scientific notation.
Writing Utensils - Any will do (Pens or Pencils)
AP Chemistry can be taken after successful completion of Regents Chem. We take a deeper dive into Chemistry in this college paced Introductory course. You may opt to take the AP Exam to get college credit. Each college determines what they will accept for credit based on the score you earn. This class consists of coursework everyday and lab every other day.
Regents Chemistry may be taken as a third science credit to earn graduation requirements. This class is an introduction to chemistry to earn a regents credit at the end of the school year. There is a lab requirement in place to attend the regents exam. This class consists of coursework everyday and lab every other day.
