Home School Coordinators work collaboratively with students and families to encourage regular school attendance and engagement. Regular school attendance is linked to academic achievement and graduation rates. Home School Coordinators strengthen relationships with students and families by meeting at school and making home visits. In addition, Home School Coordinators connect families to community resources to offer additional levels of support.

Chronic absence— missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions, can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school.
