3. Review the theme interpretation strategies on slides 7 and 8

4. During the lesson, complete the theme organizer from The Present

5. On slide 9, create your independent work plan

6. Watch the short film Lava

7. After watching the film, complete the organizer on slide 11

   • Be sure to identify details that support your chosen theme

8. After completing the slides, read your choice book

9. Log your reading on your Reading Log

1. Access your Writing Notebook

   • Go to your Class App and click on writing

2. On slide 5, plan out the plot of your story

• Think about the rollercoaster:

  • Set the stage for your story

  • Create events that build suspense that lead to the big event

  • The climax of your story should be the most dramatic, interesting part of your story

  • The falling action events should connect to your big problem of the story

  • The solution concludes the whole story and relates to the problem that the whole story focused on

2. On slide 5, decide what point of view your story will be told from.

3. On slide 5, write a lead that will draw in your reader from the beginning

   • Choose sound, talking, or action as the way to begin your writing piece
