4. Meet with your book club to set a reading goal to complete by the end of class on TODAY

   • Place your bookworm bookmark at this stopping point

   • Check the book club calendar if you are not in class

5. Make a work plan with your book club on slide 20

6. Begin reading your book club

7. By the end of today, work to complete the table of an event in the text that leads you to a bigger idea

8. Take the time to stop and jot to grow bigger ideas

   • Does this part connect to earlier parts of the story?

   • What is the author trying to teach you?

9. Set a reading goal for your independent reading on Wednesday at the end of your book club meeting time

3. On slide 10, review the Haiku

   • Use the anchor chart and example to help you write your own haiku poem

4. On slide 11, write your own haiku poem

   • Be sure to follow the structure provided in the anchor chart

5. Use spell check to ensure your work is the best it can be

   • Have your work checked and approved by your teacher

6. Once approved, choose your choice of publishing paper and handwrite your haiku poem
