ABOUT ME

My name is Christina Mackey-Greene and I work with students who have last names P-Z.

I came to WHS in 2010 as a 1st year high school counselor after having been a college admissions counselor for nine years in Oregon. In both of these roles, my approach to working with students and families is from the belief that all students have the capacity to reach their greatest potential when they are empowered to be successful in all areas of their life (personal/social, academic and career). For me, this means helping students tap into the tools to help them navigate challenging and difficult situations be that in the classroom, social interactions, college application or the random daily stressors of life.

It is my goal to be open and honest and build genuine relationships with my students, their families and my colleagues. In doing so, I acknowledge that I won't always have the answers but will work to find them and provide clarification; that I'll make mistakes and will make amends/apologize when I do. Most importantly, I promise to provide a place where all students feel encouraged and supported regardless of their race, sexual orientation, religion, socio-economic background, political beliefs and so on.

A few fun facts:

  1. I'm the youngest of four and the first in my family to go to college.

  2. I lived in Guadalajara, Mexico for a year and taught English. I think everyone should live in another country at some point in their life.

  3. My favorite part of the school day is welcoming students from the balcony in the commons. Not sure they appreciate my enthusiasm so early. :-)

  4. Hiking, eating and cooking are three of my favorite past-times.

  5. My husband and two children (daughter and son) keep me grounded and encourage me to be a better version of myself everyday.
