WCHS Summer Reading

(2023-2024 School Year)

All WCHS students should have chosen a book during the last week of school. If you were unable to do so, call the high school to schedule an appointment in June to select your book.

STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR BOOK!

STEP 2: Record your book on the Google Form.

Even if you're using a book from home, we need to know which book each student is reading.

STEP 3: READ (and enjoy) YOUR BOOK!!!

STEP 4: Complete the choice board assignment.

Overview

Open the document to the left (or click this link)  for further details about the assignment and how it will be assessed.

STEP 5: Share your work!

With your teacher

Turn in your choice board assignment and letter to your English teacher on the first day of school. If you have a digital product, you'll be able to post it on Google Classroom. If you have a paper or tangible product, you can hand it in.

With your peers

Discuss your book (what you liked, didn't like, found surprising, etc.) and your choice board product with your classmates. English classes will have one day during the first week of school for this discussion.

A Note to Parents

If there is a topic that you'd prefer your child to avoid reading about, please discuss that with them. Students at WCHS have access to a diverse collection of books, many of which deal with challenging topics.

You're also encouraged to read (your child's book or a book of your own choice) and participate in our summer reading project. If you'd like to join the book discussion during the first week of school, please contact your child's English teacher to make arrangements.

If you have questions about the summer reading project, call Washington County High School at (859) 336- 5475 or email Principal Charlie Cox.
