Out-of-district requests

Out of district transfers can now be requested through the WCPS website at this link.

The number of students admitted to South Warren Middle School on an out-of-district status depends upon enrollment numbers and building capacity. Applications will be accepted from April 1 through June 7th. After June 7th, final grades, behavior, and attendance will be reviewed. Applicants will selected based on behavior, grades, and attendance in conjunction with the number of available seats in each grade.

Leggings must be worn with a long top that covers the seat of the pants.

No explicit pictures, drug/alcohol/tobacco references, or suggestive language on clothing.

Dress code violations must be resolved before returning to class.

To minimize time out of class, we do not permit students to call home for a change of clothes. Instead, the YSC will provide a change of clothes. Or, students may change into their own clothing if they have extra clothes in their lockers. Please check your student's clothing before they leave home each day to avoid dress code violations. Teacher discretion prevails when an item of clothing is questionable.

Opportunities for Gifted and Talented


Click HERE for Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students (SCATS) information.

For students who have completed grades 6, 7, or 8

Date and Time: June 9-21, 8:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. for classes; Can be residential or nonresidential

Location: Classes are held in various buildings on the WKU Campus.

Curriculum: Students take four courses from a wide array of choices.

Summer Program for Verbally and Mathematically Precocious Youth (VAMPY) - For students who have completed grades 7, 8, 9, or 10 and have earned an ACT or SAT score at or above the average for college-bound seniors.

Date and Time: June 23-July 13 - Residential Program; Students spend 6 hours each day in one class. Students participate in a variety of cultural, educational, and recreational activities when they are not in class.

Location: Classes are held in various buildings on the WKU Campus.

Curriculum: Fourteen classes are offered ranging from astronomy to chemistry, computer science, pop culture, presidential politics, mathematics, writing, and more. Students select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice of classes for which they are qualified. Classes are filled on a first come/first serve basis. Students take one class.

Faculty & Staff Contact List for Parents 2018-2019

New this year, we may accept up to 7 doctor notes and 5 parent notes in order to excuse an absence for your child. After the 7th doctor note, a Medical Excuse form must be completed by your child’s physician in order for the absence to be excused. All notes must be submitted within 5 school days after returning to school. Please know that our goal is to reduce chronic absenteeism and we regret any inconvenience this may create for some families. As always, please feel free to contact us at anytime if your child experiences a unique medical situation throughout the year.
