From Mrs. LaSala

January 15, 2019

We have had a great week of learning! Please note that we will not have school on Wednesday, January 16th. This is a District Wide Teacher Work day. Our teachers will be collaborating with other teachers from across the district to gather ideas to best meet the needs of your child. We will also be working together as a school to analyze data and to plan instruction to guide your child to academic success! Your support is greatly appreciated and your child will greatly benefit from this time of professional development for our teachers. Monday, January 21st will also be a day of no school as we honor the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There is a fantastic ceremony that will take place Saturday, Jan. 19th, 4:00 p.m. at Warren Central High School if you would like to attend.

There have been several upcoming events added to our School/Family Living Calendar - you will want to check that. Our PTO has set dates for March Madness and our Candy Bar sales. I have also added some school dress up days that you won't want to miss! As always, your child is a blessing to us and we love to serve them each and every day!

Transportation Changes/Afternoon dismissal

Help us help your child know his/her way home each day.

  • Transportation changes can be made by sending in a note or calling the school.
  • Changes have to be made prior to 1:30 p.m. (This is to ensure we correctly communicate the changes to your child's teacher).
  • Only individuals on your child's emergency card are allowed to pick up your child.
  • Anyone picking up a child from the office must have a valid PICTURE I.D. (including custodial guardians).
  • Students will be brought to the office at the conclusion of car riders for OFFICE DISMISSAL. (The only exception is for students who have doctors appointments after school).

Winter Weather

Winter Weather is upon us. Please take a few minutes to review WCPS policy on early dismissal or closing of school. Safety is our top priority and we want you to be informed.

WCPS Weather Delays

If school is dismissed early, we will send your child home as indicated on the early dismissal form you filled out that was included in the beginning of the year paperwork. If something has changed, please let your child's teacher know. Our phone lines tend to stayed tied in these instances, it is important to be prepared before hand. Thank you for your support.

In an effort to maintain safety, please note that we will always require an official picture ID (driver's license/passport/official ID) when checking your child out from school. Even though we recognize many of you by your face, we will consistently ask for your ID each time. In order to maintain safety in the most efficient way possible, consistency is the key for procedures. Please understand that in order to ensure the procedure is always followed, your ID will be required. Additionally, only adults listed on your child's emergency card will be allowed to sign out your child. We appreciate your support and understanding in our efforts to keep your child safe.

Warren County schools has adopted a new attendance policy. Click the link above to review. It is important to note:

  • A child is considered truant when: 3 or more unexcused absences/tardies

Make sure you send in a written note or a doctor's statement promptly when your child returns to school. Without a written excuse, the absence is marked unexcused.
