My mission is to provide a classroom where students are heavily engaged in the highest level of learning, with opportunities to construct meaning and communicate effectively. My classroom is a place where effort is celebrated and students feel safe to take risks and fail in order to grow. My lessons incorporate research-based instructional practices, the Leader in Me habits, writing opportunities, and technology. My personal and professional goal is to foster a lifelong love of learning and help students find their voice.

I have been teaching at Alvaton Elementary since 2011. I have taught 6th grade, 3rd grade, and this is my seventh year teaching 2nd grade. I absolutely love teaching second graders and collaborating with the other amazing 2nd grade teachers!

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University, a Master's Degree in Literacy from the University of the Cumberlands, and a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Indiana University. 

My husband and I live in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We have two children, Jackson, 25 and Alexa, 22.
