Allison Serafin

Jen Ostayan

Library Teacher

Northeast Elementary

Allison Serafin

Born into a teaching family, inspired by both of my parents serving as teachers, I began my career as a substitute teacher in the classrooms of  Westchester, New York, then as a student teacher in urban West Philadelphia. After graduation with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary/Special Education from St. Joseph’s University, I moved to Tampa and secured a position as an elementary classroom teacher in Hillsborough County, Florida, where I taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade for eight years. Most recently, in Brookline, I served a diverse population of middle school students as a Language Arts teacher for two years. I completed my Masters in Education Administration from UMASS Lowell in May 2019.Thankfully I found my way to Waltham and Northeast Elementary during the 2018-2019 school year. I have loved paving a path in this new position as Digital Learning Teacher,  and learning ways to teach students new applications and skills in technology. As teachers, we will always be “lifelong learners” and I look forward to finding out new applications in the tech world for my students from courses, my colleagues, and classes. In my spare time, I love listening to live music, taking spin classes in Boston, trying out new recipes, and traveling to new places (like London and Paris last summer) and to my favorite “oldie but goodie” places (the Outer Banks, NC.)
Allison is a Google Certified Educator, Level 1.
