Departing Students
Chromebook return
Graduating seniors will return their Chromebooks and chargers at designated drop-off times after final exams, as part of the "senior obligations" system.
Students who are leaving the school district for other reasons (transfers, moving out of town, etc.) can return borrowed Chromebook equipment to their school's main office or school counselor.
Account deactivation
School Google accounts for graduating seniors and retiring staff are typically deactivated sometime mid-summer, usually around the beginning of August. Deactivation for other staff accounts tends to occur closer to the date of final employment. Once the account is deactivated, you will no longer be able to log in to access your school email or any of your Google Drive files, docs, slideshows, etc.
Saving your data
If there are email messages or Drive items that you would like to keep after the deactivation, you have three options:
Download individual items from your drive, one-at-a-time, in PDF or MS Office formats (best if you only need a few files)
Copy messages and/or files to a personal Google account with Google Takeout TRANSFER
Download messages and/or files as a zip file with Google Takeout DOWNLOAD
Maintenance of data
Please be aware that your data is still kept by the school for many years, in accordance with federal and state law. If necessary, you can contact the WPS Tech Support team or school's main office to help you get temporary access to those files after your account has been deactivated.
