A native of Armenia, Armenuhi Hovakimian is an accomplished and active solo, chamber and orchestral violinist. Armenuhi graduated with honors & was the first prize winner in the honors solo competition at Eastman School of Music preparatory division. Armenuhi received her Bachelor of Music Performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Violin Performance from Western Michigan University. Her principal teachers included Villy Mokazyan, Vazgen Avetisovich, John Celentano, Stanley Chepaitis and Renata Knific.
Armenuhi has been teaching for 20 years in various locations throughout New York area, Michigan, Pennsylvania & in New England. She appreciates the diverse musical interests and talents of her students, as they help to mold her into a better teacher. She also firmly believes the value of supporting and attending life performances. She has participated extensively in orchestral tours throughout Armenia, Canada, Germany, France and England. She is fluent in English, Armenian & Russian. When she is not teaching or playing the violin, she enjoys cooking, traveling with her husband and their three children. She lives and has a private studio at her home in Norwood, MA. In addition to teaching, Armenuhi has coached chamber groups & has taught at summer festivals to all ages and skill levels. She’s the co-founder of the Arlina Ensemble & in addition to teaching she currently enjoys performing with her quartet.
