Lake Walk
By Katie Hurwitz
I pondered of the translucent dream
Of me being courted by a royalty of the water, a lake prince
Who would whisper words into the auricle of my ear like the wind as kind as angel cake
Floating around me like a glowing firefly would be a singing fairy
Pointing me to the prince, the lake that was a mirror of the sky so light blue
My dreams would unfold, my words of gratitude would leap off my lips of pink
As if my wishes were unfurling from a broken spinning wheel
But, alas, everything light fades to black as I awake from a deep sleep
The night so cursed from a demon disturbing pleasant dreams, a witch
And my lake walk would sound from fading fairies to a lonesome owl
