Families can apply for free meals and the application is confidential. Students who receive free meals in the cafeteria go through the lunch line the same way as full pay students. Applications need to be submitted every year. Eligibility letters will be mailed home within 10 days of the application.
Families who qualify under the Reduced Price category will no longer be charged the $.40 copay.
For the 2020-21 school year, elementary school lunch is $4.00 and $4.50 for middle school students. Breakfast at WCI is $3.00.
Online & Mobile App Payment Options
The WCSD school cafeterias use a Point of Sale system to record which students receive a school meal. Every student is issued an ID card with a bar code which will be scanned to receive a meal.
Use TITAN Family Portal for online payments as well as free tools such as viewing account activity and setting up low balance notifications. There is no cost to register. A Titan Family Connect app is also available. We encourage families to use the free low balance alert tool. Up to two emails can be set up to receive a low balance notifications.
Other Payment Options
Cash
We highly encourage families to prepay for meals. If this is not an option and families send cash with their child please place it in a sealed envelope and write your child’s complete name, teacher, and grade on it. Cash is deposited into your child’s account the same day it is received.
Personal Check
For families who send a personal check with their child, please place it in a sealed envelope and write your child’s complete name, teacher, and grade on it. Please make the check payable to WCSD Cafeteria.
Checks are deposited into your child’s account the same day it is received.
Refunds
Students leaving the district can either transfer their account balance to a siblings account within the Walnut Creek School District or request a refund. Refunds must be requested before the start of the new school year. Email eatwell@walnutcreeksd.org to request a refund or transfer.
Meal Charges
Students without funds to pay for a meal will be served a meal, however, the cost of the meal will be ‘charged’ to their account, regardless if the families has registered with the online account system, TITAN, or not. Families will be notified of the meal charge and be responsible to pay the balance.
