Some plants are so hardy they can survive almost anywhere, like this little plant. A quiet reminder of how we still have a while to go before mother nature is tamed. Of course, there's also the loud reminders like hurricanes. Climate change actually makes natural disasters more likely, so karma, I guess.
Planting trees is great for the enviroment, so if you plant one in your backyard, your air will be happy with you. Grass works well as well, and it's easier to take care of.
Climate Change
The world is kinda terrible these days, and most people don't even notice it. Sure, it's better to ignore everything and just move along with your life, but there are a lot of things that are messed up. By the way, you probably don't want to read this article if you are feeling stressed out about the state of the world. But one of the main problems is climate change. Climate change is greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere because of us burning fossil fuels and using oil, and never using non-green energy sources like solar power. That's because the big companies want to make money, and lots of it. Sure, when they sell you a product it's cheaper than one made clean, but the true cost is never shown. The atmosphere is more than 2 degrees fahrenheit hotter than 1950, which may not seem like a lot; but it's enough to make the glaciers melt, make the ocean rise, cause natural disasters, and it will be our eventual downfall. Let me show you what could happen. There is a thing called a runaway greenhouse gas effect. A runaway greenhouse effect occurs when a planet's atmosphere contains greenhouse gas in an amount sufficient to block thermal radiation from leaving the planet, preventing the planet from cooling and from having liquid water on its surface. I know that's a lot of weird science terms, but bear with me. Once that happens, we are doooooooooooomed. Wildlife will go extinct. Natural disaters will happen so often. The air outside will be scorching, and humanity will crumble. So... very happy stuff, people. That will happen once we reach 117 degrees fahrenheit, so we have some time to prepare. But that doesn't mean we should be slacking off. The problem is that we are addicted on gas and oil and fossil fuels, non-green sources just as surely as an alcoholic is. The problem is, a lot of us need energy to survive. There is a new way in the world, and going from carbon to clean energy will be just as hard from going from no energy to CO2. It will take a lot of work. So what can you do? Well, attend rallies and donate to charities, maybe even start a charity yourself! Convince your parents to vote for senators that believe in climate change. Read articles about it. Some websites that you can check out are right here at your hands!
