Mr. Dave Hauge has been teaching kindergarten for many, many years. He started his career at Presidio Middle School in San Francisco. He then moved to West Contra Costa where he taught high school and elementary school for several years. One day while riding his bike around Walnut Creek he met the principal of Buena Vista and began teaching kindergarten the following September.

Mr. Hauge holds a Master of Arts degree in early childhood education, a special education credential, and a multiple subject credential. In addition, he is certified as an Early Childhood Generalist by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. He is a certified Reading Recovery Teacher and a certified Reading Recovery Teacher Leader. He has also completed additional coursework in literacy under the direction of Dr. Linda Dorn at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. His professional interests include early literacy and environmental education.

Mr. Hauge has two grown children, Calin, a health care professional, and Chelsey, an education professional. In his free time he enjoys being a grandfather to Paisley, Jayden, Luna, Sienna, Victoria, Mica, Lillian, and Reno. When he is not grandfathering, he enjoys backpacking, fishing, upland game hunting, target shooting, bike riding, woodworking, and camping. He is an active member of both the Presidio Hill Zen Group and Green Dragon Zen Temple in Muir Beach, California.
