This book is great for anyone who loves a scare. Justin’s best friend has recently been found. Zee had been missing for 404 days. But something is wrong with him. He acts strange, sending odd messages to Justin and his other friends. One by one, everyone in their friend group goes missing, just like Zee did. One second, they’re in this world, the next, they are somewhere else with bizarre numbers on their wrists. This is a perfect book for anyone who loves Stranger Things on Netflix.

Other Wood by Pete Hautman

Stuey meets a girl playing in the woods one day. Her name is Elly and she is the same age as Stuey. The exact same age, for they share the same birthday. One day, Elly goes missing. Stuey continues to play in the woods, even without Elly, and some strange things start to happen. He sees Elly. He tells the police officers and the doctors and the reporters that he saw Elly and he knows he saw her. They tell him he’s just suffering from a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but he doesn’t think so. What is he seeing? Is Elly alive? What’s going on? And does Elly know that Stuey is alive?

Irréelle is made of bone dust. Miss Vesper makes Irréelle work hard and has her collect bone dust from the graveyard next to Miss Vesper’s house. Miss Vesper works all day with the bone dust. One day, Irréelle is wandering above the graveyard after having escaped from Miss Vesper. She meets other children that say they’ve been created by Miss Vesper as well. This story is an amazing fantasy mystery that is impossible to put down.

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

When Coraline moves to her new flat, she finds an abnormal door. She decides to one day go through the door. She finds her house. Another version of it. Her mother and her father are both there, but something is different. They have buttons sewn into their eyes. Coraline spends a lot of her time in this “other world.” Why wouldn’t she? It’s amazing! She gets almost everything she wants and her button-eyed parents care way more about her than the other ones. Her “other mother” asks her if she wants to stay there. However, there is one condition. She must have buttons sewn into her eyes. A difficult choice. What will Coraline choose? This is such an amazing and classic book. The movie is fantastic as well!

Two girls, Quinn and Kara, have been best friends their entire childhood. Kara and her family are moving and Quinn goes on a final trip with them. They stop at the first hotel they pass and it immediately gives Quinn a bad vibe. After just being there a few days, Kara’s parents and brother go missing. The two girls encounter many strange things during their journey. What happens next is crazy.
