WIS Knights at Medieval Times

By Hannah Sarnak and Farah Sherif

Hey guys! It’s Hannah and Farah telling you about the awesome trip that we had! We were sitting in the Black and White Knight’s section at table 8. There was also the Red Knight, the Yellow Knight, the Green Knight, the Blue Knight, and the Red and Yellow Knight. They all competed in a tournament. They competed to see who would be the champion of all the realms.

It was a very small arena compared to a competitive horse ring, but big enough for jousting, knights, and six or seven horses. The seats were like broadway seats, very comfy. The show taught the audience about chivalry, kindness, and respect.

The opinions on the food wavered. Some students liked it and some students did not. Part of the reason people might not have liked it might be because we ate with our hands. The garlic bread they served first was phenomenal. The rest of the meal was chicken, corn on the cob and sweet potato. The vegetarian meal was pasta salad, fruit, hummus and pita, carrots and celery, and a three bean stew. The drinks that they served throughout the show were Pepsi or water.

Unfortunately, souvenirs were really expensive. It was like $10 for a glow necklace. There was a light up lance, wooden swords and shields, plastic swords, light up unicorn headbands, a headband that had streamers, light up spring type tubes, and glow sticks. You could also buy flags with your knight’s colors. Treats that you had to buy included slushies and mini swirl lollipops.

After every event, the knights threw flowers to the crowd. Our very own Ms. Page caught one! The events that took place included spear throwing at a target, collecting a ring on a lance, and of course, jousting. The championship event was jousting and then fighting on foot. The champion was… THE GREEN KNIGHT!!!! I don’t think anyone at WIS was in that section. For desert during the championship, they gave out cookies. All in all it was VERY intense!
