Guts Book Review

by Maddie McInnes

You may recognize the author, Raina Telegriamer, from her other books including Smile, Ghosts, Drama, Sisters, and the Babysitters Club graphic novel series. She is a beloved author and fans have been waiting for a new release. Personally I was very excited for a new one to be in my hands!

After reading it I am here to tell you a kid’s perspective on it. Guts is a graphic novel. In the beginning you see Raina, the main character, is feeling sick to her stomach and throughout the book she continues to feel this way. There is suspense as you try to figure out what's happening with her. The book also shows the regular ups and downs of being a teenager. She is struggling with friends and a horrible stomach ache is no help.

In the end… you thought I would spoil it! NO WAY! I would recommend this book to people who like graphic novels. Some of the other books by the author are based on this character, too, but they can be read before or after reading this book. I would say this is good for ages 9 and up because there are some topics younger ones would not really understand. I think it teaches readers a lot about friendship and being brave. This book kept me up all night and it might convince you to read even more. Okay I hope you're convinced. Remember that this book just came out so be patient waiting for a copy.

Enjoy and be a BOOKWORM!!!
