Doge Miner

by Maddie McInnes

Last month, if you looked at a 6th grader’s Chromebook screen, you probably saw the game DOGE MINER. Here go try it out… https://dogeminer2.com/.

Okay so this game has no real point or strategy to it. You click the keyboard like crazy and that's it. The goal is to mine the most gold. The whole doge part is just a meme of a dog, but called a “doge”.

I very much understand why teachers don’t like it, when they are trying to teach a lesson and kids are trying to sneak a level or two in. Plus, the clicking sound gets very annoying. There is no learning to it and all of that just adds up to a bad game.

Somehow it was all the rage though. Soon some kids will find a new one and Doge Miner will be forgotten and some new game will be beloved. Or, the game will be blocked and everyone will go on an epic search for a new one. I can't wait to see how the life of Doge Miner unfolds.

Oh! What's that I hear? It was blocked! Ha! Apparently now they are searching for their next big one! Uh oh!
