Global Warming: Big or Small Issue?

by Noah Mencer

When you hear the word global warming you may not think that it is a serious, but it is a really bad problem. Global warming is affecting the environment. It is endangering animals like polar bears and other animals that live in places with high amount of ice and snow. Polar bears live on ice and that ice is melting.

According to National Geographic’s “Climate Change 101” will Bill Nye, in the past 100 years the global temperature has gone up more than 1 degree Fahrenheit. That might not seem like a lot, but it has a huge impact on our environment. In Wisconsin one and a half miles of ice has melted since 1975.

We are increasing global warming by burning so many fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are like what humans use in their cars and lots of other things. Burning fossil fuels puts greenhouse gases into the air and we will eventually run out because they take millions of years to form. But it is possible to stop burning fossil fuels because companies like Tesla make cars that use electricity and do not burn fossil fuels. That would help with global warming. That would keep polar bears safe because no global warming means that ice would melt much slower in cold environments.
