Welcome to Powerful Partnerships, a one-stop-shop resource to "educate teachers, specialized instructional support personnel, principals and other school leaders, and other staff, with the assistance of parents:
In the value and utility of parents’ contributions,
In how to reach out to, communicate with, and work with parents as equal partners, and
In how to implement and coordinate parent programs, and build ties between parents and the school.
The goal of this resource is to build POWERFUL PARTNERSHIPS.
Research demonstrates that parent and family engagement significantly contributes to improved student outcomes. Everyone- students, parents, teachers, administrators, and communities- benefit from parent and family engagement. More specifically, school faculty and staff benefit for parent and family engagement in several ways including:
Greater teaching effectiveness;
Higher expectations of students;
Increased ability to understand family views and cultures;
Greater appreciation of parent volunteers; and,
Improved morale.
It is to our benefit that we become a united front and work with parents as equal partners.
