Year 9 Metal Technology
In Metal Technology, you will be motivated to learn new practical skills and apply those skills when designing and making individual or group final project. This gives you the skill set to enter senior school workshop subjects in later years.
In Metal, you will learn about:
Health and safety in practical lessons
Designing and building project/s to suit the needs of a stakeholder/s
hands on practical engineering/fabrication skills and gain relevant skills
selecting and using hand tools, portable machinery and fixed machinery as per Ministry of Education - Health & Safety regulations.
This course leads to Year 10 metal work course for the whole year, and also the building the foundation of NCEA Level 1 Mechanical Engineering Technology (Competenz programme) through Junior programmes. The production of metal projects in year 9 will cover the a range of skill set necessary for Year 10. Students will be able to personally design and construct individualised or group project by utilising a wide range of skills and expertise.
