Year 10 Food Technology
The Year 10 programme is based around learning from the Design and Product Development strands of the Technology Curriculum. This programme also offers students the opportunity to work towards L1 Hospitality standards. Creativity and innovation are actively encouraged throughout this course. This course aims to act as a ‘taster’ for junior students as to whether the service domain is a potential vocational pathway for themselves as individuals. This course aims to act as a logical step into studying Hospitality at senior school NCEA levels.
The learning opportunities of this programme include:
Knowledge of food safety management
Developing teamwork skills
Design and development of food based products
Practical cookery skills
Knowledge of various career pathways in the hospitality industry
Credits Available:
Internal - 10
This course will lead on to NCEA pathways in Hospitality.
This an open entry course and there are no prerequisites. There is no equipment required.
