NCEA Level 2 Te Reo Maaori
Introduction
This course is an extension of what the students have learnt in Year 11. Students will continue to reap the numerous benefits of being bilingual by taking Te Reo Maaori at NCEA Level 2. Research suggests that learning a second language enhances memory, facilitates brain growth, develops cultural awareness and makes you an extremely coveted commodity in the global job market. Several credits are on offer in both internal and external assessments. Some of these standards count for University Entrance Literacy at Level 2.
Course Outline
Unit Standards and Achievement Standards are offered to the students.
Unit Standards - Credits Available:
Internal - Up to 30 credits
Achievement Standards - Credits Available:
Internal - Up to 16 credits
External - Up to 12 credits
Maaori Performing Arts Level 2 & 3 Unit Standards - Credits Available: (Only available for students who competes in the Pae Rangatahi Kapa Haka Group)
Level 2 Internal - 10 credits
Level 3 Internal - 15 credits

Noho Marae, Manu Koorero, Pae Rangatahi, Koroneihana, Taatarakihi & Puuanga
Where this course can lead
This course will lead you into Year 13, NCEA Level 3.
Prerequisites & Equipment
1B5 exercise books are preferred, with of course the basic stationery 'pen, pencil, eraser'
Prerequisites: It is preferred that students have completed NCEA Level 1 Te Reo Maaori. However, if students have not, they will be offered Level 2 Unit Standards.
