NCEA Level 1 Te Reo Maaori
Introduction
Most students begin NCEA Level 1 Te Reo Maaori at Year 11. This is when we begin a journey of learning a deeper and authentic understanding of Te Reo Maaori me oona Tikanga. This course is also an extension of what students have learnt in Year 9 and 10 and will set the students on their pathway to success. Both internal and external assessments are on offer.
Course Outline
This subject offers Literacy.
Unit Standards and Achievement Standards are offered to the students.
Unit Standards - Credits Available:
Internal - Up to 30 credits
Achievement Standards - Credits Available:
Internal - Up to 18 credits
External - Up to 12 credits
Maaori Performing Arts Level 2 & 3 Unit Standards - Credits Available: (Only available for students who competes in the Pae Rangatahi Kapa Haka Group)
Level 2 Internal - 10 credits
Level 3 Internal - 15 credits

Noho Marae, Manu Koorero, Pae Rangatahi, Koroneihana, Taatarakihi & Puuanga
Where this course can lead
This course will lead students to Year 12, NCEA Level 2.
Prerequisites & Equipment
1B5 exercise books are preferred, with of course the basic stationery 'pen, pencil, eraser'
Prerequisites: It is preferred that students have completed a Junior Te Reo Maaori course. However, if students have not, they will have the opportunity to complete the Unit Standards available .
