Kōtui Ako and Te Kura are distance learning options that help us to deliver a wider range of course to students. These course can include Economics, Art History, Japanese or even German. Additionally, if there is a clash on the timetable, these providers can allow a student to continue with their chosen courses. Courses are available from Year 9 right through to NCEA Level 3.
It isn't as easy as having a teacher looking over your shoulder but plenty of support is given at Waitara High School starting with a study line in the library overseen by the librarian and Deputy Principal - Learning.
Kōtui Ako study includes a once a week zoom lesson with a teacher and other students from all over the country and then assigned work.
Te Kura work is a completely online course with modules that students work through at their own pace and a teacher available via email.

A really positive and curious mindset. You are expected to be an independent learner who proactively checks in on your work and asks for help when you need it.
