Introduction

This course is aimed at preparing students to go forward with a good knowledge of Science/Pūtaiao based subjects and to help with their everyday lives. There is a focus on chemistry, biology and physics. Looking at chemical reactions, the chemistry of metals and applications of chemistry. Along with mechanics, practical applications of physics in everyday lives and the biology of microorganisms and their interactions with humans.  This course is a requirement for students wanting to go on to study Biology, Chemistry and Physics at Level 2 and 3.

Where this course can lead

This course provides a general science programme giving students learning in Level 1 Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Any student with an interest in continuing to study science in senior school or at a tertiary level should take this general course.
