NCEA Level 2 Agriculture
Introduction
This qualification is an entry pathway for learners who are seeking a career in the primary sector. This course will allow students time frames necessary to complete various practical and theory tasks. These standards can contribute towards the National Certificate in Agriculture Level 2. This course is for people working, or intending to work in the Primary Industry, who want to gain practical skills.
Course Outline
A range of written and practical standards are offered at level 2, these may be selected from the following;
US19145, 4 credits, Describe hydration, nutrition, and sleep in relation to physical well-being of primary industry workers.
US19116, 3 credits, Demonstrate knowledge of livestock behaviour and welfare in a primary industry operation.
US24822, 4 credits, Install wooden battens for fencing.
US24835, 3 credits, Identify the location of a fault in electric fences, and replace electric fence components.
US24836, 2 credits, Describe non-electric fences, fence support materials, and safe practices in fencing.
US15611, 4 credits, Assist with milking sheep.

Where this course can lead
To employment in the primary industry of farming and/or further Agriculture studies.
Prerequisites & Equipment
There are no specific prerequisites for this course other than an ability to be involved in practical activities on the school farm as well as written tasks in class.
Students having their own gumboots and overalls would be beneficial.
