NCEA Level 2 Outdoor Education
This course will include a range of outdoor pursuits, such as mountain biking, tramping, rafting, high ropes and rock climbing.
There is an opportunity to demonstrate social responsibility in outdoor settings. Students in this class will be assessed on their engagement in EOTC and also on their ability to reflect on the experiences they have in the outdoors.
Term 1 - Practical Mountain Biking Assessment at Mangamahoe MTB Park and safety analysis assessment focusing on developing and using risk reduction strategies.
Term 2 - TOPEC Rafting Assessment on the Waiwhakaiho and Waitara Rivers. Rock climbing Preparation trips to the YMCA and group processes reflection assessment
Term 3 - Hiking Preparation and trip to the Pouakai Circuit. Rock climbing assessment trip to Wharepapa South (Castle Rock).
Term 4 - Catch-ups and Exam preparation.

Onto Level 3 OUTD as well as employment in a huge range of fields including Outdoor Recreation, Sports Management, Safety Management.
