NCEA Level 1 Outdoor Education
This course is the introduction to Outdoor Education. Students will be challenged in a range of pursuits and will need to demonstrate their ability to plan and reflect on a range of factors related to self and others.
Learning activities will include mountain biking, rock climbing, tramping, white water rafting, and caving. The course aims to promote personal growth through fun, challenging and positive experiences in the outdoors. This course lays the foundation for Outdoor Education at Level 2 and 3.
Term 1 - Mountain Biking practical assessment and surfing preparation assessment (Fitzroy Beach)
Term 2 - TOPEC Course including caving and whitewater rafting introductions
Term 3 - Hauora in the Outdoor (External assessment). Rock climbing practical assessment at The Crux Climbing Gym. Introductory hiking trip to Mounga Taranaki.
Term 4 - Catch-ups and exam Preparation.

Internal - 17
External - 5
Total - 22
Onto Level 2 OUTD as well as employment in a huge range of fields from Search and Rescue to Youth Organisations.
