Year 9 Music
Learning Music in Year 9 is super cool! It can make you more creative, help you think better, and improve your memory. You'll also learn how to work with others and appreciate different cultures and music from the past, present and future. Plus, you can express yourself through music and become more in-touch with your emotions. It's a great way to grow personally and make new friends.
You do not have to be able to play an instrument already, but you will be expected to sign-up for weekly instrumental lessons through our itinerant scheme. By taking music in Year 9, you will be able to continue through Years 10-13. At NCEA, Music is a subject that contributes to UE (University Entrance).

teacher,
doctor,
engineer
because music teaches you: discipline, creativity, and how to solve problems. These skills are also important in jobs like:
marketing,
law,
public service, and even in creative fields like
writing or
design.
A willingness to give new things a go is the only prerequisite.
Equipment: your own pair of headphones will be useful.
Itinerant instrument lessons are offered, free of charge, to all Year 9, 10 and NCEA Music students at Waitara High School.
