NCEA Level 2 Visual Arts
NCEA Level 2 Visual Arts
In this course you will apply understanding from research into a range of established art practices to extend skills into making original artwork using a range of media and techniques and exploring a visual theme. In the second half of the year, you will extend upon work produced in Semester 1, to produce a portfolio of original artwork displayed on two A1 boards, exploring a visual theme of your choice. You can specialise in Painting, Photography or Printmaking when developing the portfolio.
Art History is also offered at Level 2 as a Visual Arts subject.
Students experience gallery/exhibition visits and an option to create and exhibit their work in several exhibitions throughout the year.
"According to personality trait theories, people who are considered artistic tend to be attracted to activities that involve creativity, originality, and independence, such as singing, dancing, writing, or just expressing their uniqueness. Artistic people also tend to be more impulsive than others."
Examples of Level 2 art work. Students have a choice of whether to develop their painting, printmaking or photography skills. Below are examples of panels of Level 2 folio work.
