Year 9 Visual Arts
In the Visual Arts you think creatively and use your imagination. As you progress in Art from Year 9 through to Year 13 (University Entry), you are taught a range of practical skills and techniques that will assist you in your own art making. For example, in Year 9 you will learn to develop ideas visually, developing the conventions used in visual arts.
Leading into Year 10, you will develop skills in drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media, and combine technology with the Arts by creating pictures/sculptures with lights, and movement. Also, you will learn about artistic techniques and concepts through the study of contemporary artists. You are invited to participate in exhibitions to display and sell your work.
In Year 9, you will create a Mandala developing the idea to create a repetitive print using Mathematics inspired by the Pacific Island Culture. earn to develop ideas visually by creating a print and developing the conventions used in visual arts.
Leading into Year 10, you will develop skills in drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media, and combine technology with the Arts by creating pictures/sculptures with lights, and movement. Also, you will learn about artistic techniques and concepts through the study of contemporary artists.
This course leads onto Senior Art.
