Aloha and Welcome!
School Gifted and Talented Philosophy
While all students should have opportunities for new learning, advanced students require differentiated educational programs and/or services beyond those normally provided by the regular school program.
Gifted and talented students need innovative curriculum to expand their knowledge base and to develop their talents. Powerful teaching opens up opportunities for them to be creative and use critical-thinking skills. Students need to develop the right skills, attitudes, and motivation to become independent thinkers and life-long learners.
Gifted and talented students need opportunities to interact with peers that challenge and motivate them academically.
An effective teacher knows how to foster a rich and positive learning environment that allows students to pursue their own interests. Counseling is also important to provide the necessary guidance in self-development, peer relations, and career exploration.
1. To provide experiences that will challenge our enrichment students to push their thinking deeper to become critical thinkers and active problem solvers.
2. To prepare students to be productive citizens in the 21st century by developing research skills and creating and sharing/presenting projects/experiences.
3. To promote collaboration amongst fellow peers, teachers, and possibly experts in the community.
