Course Overview: There are four overarching topics covered in our Junior Physical Education course: Movement Skills, Exercise & Nutrition, Participation and Cultural Awareness. The focus for Year 7 students will be on basic skill acquisition, interpersonal skills, fitness concepts and identity through movement.

(HEA) Students are introduced to topics that reflect their relationships with themselves and their peers in units such as Who am I, Staying Safe, Growing and Changing and Healthy Bodies. Teachers create a safe space where open discussion is encouraged and students reflect on their sense of self through learning to ask safe and engaging questions.

9HEA consolidates learning from 7&8HEA and encourages students to take ownership of their well being through units such as Mental Health, Sexuality Education, Exciting Times and Alcohol and other drugs.

10HEA brings all junior health years together and highlights Te Whare Tapa Whā, Fueling our Bodies, Future Me and Sexuality Education. This course prepares students for NCEA health and gives students the tools to move through their lives as young adults to make sound decisions.

Outdoor Education can be selected as a Year 10 option subject. Each option runs for two terms.
Course Overview: Students will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of their local environment whilst also developing a range of practical skills and knowledge that will prepare them well for NCEA Outdoor Education and life in general.

There are two trips associated with this course: a raft-building expedition and an overnight shelter survival trip. Both trips take place locally on-island.
